Excuses For Being Lazy

5 Awesome Scientific Excuses You Can Give For Being Lazy

1. For some of us, it is in our genes. We just cannot help it!

Have you always fought against laziness and lost? That may be because laziness is in your genes. In such people, there is a mutation in a gene that controls the proteins for the dopamine receptors in your brain. Dopamine is linked to physical activity and hence a mutation in this gene could be making you lazier.

2. You can be lazy because the second mouse always gets the cheese

Ever observed what happens when a teacher asks the class a very difficult question?
The first guy to answer may or may not get the right answer. But because he is a risk taker, he will obviously go for it anyway. Many times he will give the right answer, and many times he fails. But hey, he is the smart one, right?
WRONG!
It is the other lazy guy who has solved the problem too but he waits in the shadows for the enthusiastic guy to give his answer. If the enthu guy fails, the lazy guy knows what the wrong answer is and will hence give the right answer.
This way the chances lazy guy always gives the right answer is 100%.

3. Human evolution has always supported laziness

Back when we were cavemen, overenthusiasm could kill us. If we had evolved to be extremely active it could have killed us.
In that way, we evolved to be lazy. Our ancestors had to carefully conserve energy before the next meal came along. So the next time you feel lazy you can blame your caveman ancestors.
But in all fairness, we evolved to be physically active too.

4. Laziness leads to creativity and deep thought about your future

When you laze around a part of your brain called the Default Mode Network is activated. The brain takes a break from conscious thought and relaxes into daydreaming and creativity.
This part of your brain also gives you motivation and intention to do well in your future.
So, yeah, laziness may actually be good for your future.

5. With laziness, you apparently can become an awesome computer programmer

Larry Wall, the inventor of Perl programming language rates Laziness as the highest attribute a computer programmer needs to be successful.
That’s because lazy people always find innovative ways to make programs much more efficient by being lazy and not writing millions of lines of codes when they can reduce that to thousands of lines of efficient codes.

Interesting Facts About Hangovers

8 Interesting Facts About Hangovers

  1. Smoking can make hangovers worse: Not only are cigarettes bad for your overall health, they can make your hangover that much worse the next morning.
Researchers who looked at the smoking and drinking habits of college students found that those who smoked on the nights that they drank heavily had much more severe hangovers the following day.
  2. Hangovers are expensive: While hangovers can take a toll on individuals, they can also affect the economy. It's estimated that hangovers cost $148 billion annually, with an average annual cost of $2,000 per working adult, due to missing work and poor job performance, according to a 2000 study in the journal Annals of Internal Medicine.
  3. Darker liquors can cause worse hangover symptoms: Darker-hued drinks, such as bourbon, red wine and rum can often be the culprit of a brutal hangover, thanks to high concentrations of compounds called congeners. These byproducts of fermentation get metabolized by the body into formaldehyde, a highly toxic substance that can contribute to a person's overall misery during a hungover morning
  4. Genetics plays a role: Hangover symptoms are closely tied to how efficiently the body breaks down alcohol and its byproducts. Certain genes are directly responsible for key enzymes, such as aldehyde dehydrogenase, which breaks down the toxic alcohol byproduct acetaldehyde.
  5. Snacking on protein can help: A hangover prevention plan, Schaefer said, can include "grazing on protein snacks. Protein keeps the stomach busy."
Because they take a relatively long time to digest, protein-rich foods such as meat, nuts and cheese will delay the opening of the pyloric valve, which allows the stomach's contents to pass into the small intestine. The small intestine is where most alcohol is absorbed into the blood.
  6. Carbonated beverages make hangovers worse: Beer and champagne drinkers take note — the bubbles in your beverage can contribute to a hangover's severity.
"If you drink bubbly drinks, [the gas] causes your pyloric valve to open," Schaefer said.
Thus, bubbly alcohol is more likely to quickly reach the small intestine, from where it is swiftly taken up into the bloodstream. Higher blood alcohol content is more likely to lead to intense hangover symptoms in the morning, so, Schaefer advised drinking "alcohol on the rocks with water as a chaser."
  7. Your brain is dehydrated: That signature, pounding headache of an epic hangover is due to dehydration. Specifically, "ethanol dries out your brain," Schaefer said.
Alcohol does this by suppressing the hormone argenine vasopressin, which conserves water levels in the body. Without argenine vasopressin there to regulate things, more water gets lost in urine, causing the body's water levels to drop.
  8. Women have a higher risk of hangovers than men: The body's water content is to blame for a woman's more potent hangover. While all humans are roughly 80 percent water, this varies between the sexes. As a percentage, women have less body water due the fact that they have more body fat (which holds less water) while men have more muscle (which is made up mostly of water).

Resolution that are meant to be Broken

10 New Year resolutions, that are made, probably to be broken.

1. Wake up Early
For all those insomniacs, who cannot make it to the wee hours of the morning, this is one of the most common New Year resolution which they fail to fulfil.
2. Weight loss and fitness

Have that one friend, who like many, makes a New Year resolution to avoid those spicy junk food and join gym? Don’t worry, it wouldn’t take much time for this resolution to fade as it is the most common New Year resolution that has never been a success for most.

3. Quit Smoking
Now for all those smokers, who plan to quit smoking the coming year - Good luck with that.

4. Deal with that Stress
This is that resolution which is never fulfilled as the people making it never stop worrying, which in turn limits enjoyment in their lives. Having a stress-free life is a state of mind that can only be achieved by not overthinking and stressing over just anything under the sun. Which is unfortunately seldom understood
5. Working hard
Everyone makes this res
olution almost every year, but the adjective explains why most of them fail. Hence, this New Year resolution usually does not succeed.

6. Say no to alcohol
Now if quitting cigarettes was like going to the moon, then to quit drinking alcohol and going on the Mars, would be an appropriate analogy. You may find so many who drink themselves silly on the New Year’s Eve, swearing that they would not touch alcohol from next year, but this hardly lasts for few days. Though drinking some alcohol is healthy, too much is too bad, and a resolution cannot stop the ones who like to hit the bar every now and then.

7. Self-transformation
“I will be the better version of me. I will make up for my mistakes." This is another common resolution which can only be lived up to if we really work hard for the
betterment of ourselves and change things that once limited our personal growth.

8. More time to family
Amidst their hectic schedule, people find it difficult these days to cherish some quality time with their families. So they make resolutions to give maximum time to their families from the next year on. They also set the pace by planning an outing and dinner on New Year’s Eve, but hardly succeed in maintaining this throughout the year, making this resolution another known failure.

9. Managing finances better
Now for all those who spend a lot and end up broke most of the times, managing finances and saving some money is a real job. It requires a sincere check on your expenditures and a habit of wise savings. Though many such people make a New Year resolution to have a better financial year and save more, they hardly abide by it.

10. Some Social service
Though an uncommon resolution, this can be kept up if we dive into some social service for the betterment of the society. Helping those in need is like offering service to God and the happiness this work brings is incomprehensible.
